Update: I changed my review to 5 stars. Just got back from Peru and this guide book was spot on accurate. I don't want anybody who is considering hiking any of these trails or going to Machu Picchu to overlook it just because the print is a bit small. It is packed FULL of great information.Great book packed full of really useful information for any trip to the Cusco/Machu Picchu area. So much more than just the Inca trail. Great maps and overviews of each section. I feel much more confident about our trek after reading this book. The ONLY reason I don't give it 5 stars is the small font. I would have given 4.5 stars if it were allowed.
Although this book was invaluable on my trip to the Inca Trail, Cusco & Machu Picchu, I was not able to experience all the treks and trails included in this little volume ...but I want to! If you plan to go, this is one of the absolutely invaluable publications you should have!
Very good guide with excellent trail descriptions, tips on what to expect during your stay and how to get organized to make the most out of it.The book is not just a guide as the author provides a very good historical and socio-cultural background to help the first time visitor understand and enjoy fully Peru.The chapters are packed with details from the many visits of the author to Peru and Bolivia. They provide great tips for different hiking levels, budgets and interests.

Best hiking book by country mile for various Inca trails.
Rated it lower but realized the author includes part of what most people consider as the salkantay trail as the santa teresa trail. Still wished there was more info on it. Great book though.
Not as good as the guide for Mount Kilimanjaro, but informative enough.
Bought it as a gift for a friend of mine who traveled to Peru. She is picky about EVERYTHING, but she loved this book! She said it was very helpful and informative in preparing her for her four-day trek to Machu Picchu.
