Matthew L. Wittenrich is a marine biologist who has been deeply involved with the aquarium world since age 15. He has studied coral reef fishes throughout the world, working as a researcher, consultant, and hobbyist. He has a bachelor's degree in Marine Biology from Long Island University, Southampton College, and is currently pursuing his doctorate at the Florida Institute of Technology in Melbourne, Florida, with research projects centered in the Philippines.

Has a wealth of information and a great starter for getting into breeding. Breaks it down into easy to understand steps.
This is a really good information on breeding, but now needs a new edition to incorporate newest information. More info for a small scale breeding adventure would be good. The info is excellent for a large scale breeding adventure. I wish I had a PhD in plumbing.
Marine husbandry was once considered impossible but the last 40 years has proven this wrong. I found it difficult to get good information on this subject and I'm very glad I bought this book. Even if you don't plan to breed fish, it is amazing to read about (and see in the beautiful pictures) the breeding habits of some fish. For example, if you had 100+ babies, how long would you keep them in your mouth for? A great buy.
A fantastic guide for anyone who is interested in breeding marine fishes. A very well written book with a step by step guide. I really enjoyed reading it and I would definitely recommend it!
I am in the process of setting up a seahorse breeding system. The information contained in the book is very helpful in designing such a system. Lots of insights with attention to detail remove the elusiveness of this quest. The cookbook approach, specific to multiple breeds after a thorough coverage of requirements for succeeding, reveals a wealth of personal knowledge and experience by the author. Very much appreciated by one who has had some frustrating failures due to ignorance in the past.
Love the book. It's loaded with information and gets down to the point. It's also easy to read especially considering it's a non-fiction book.
